In these dramas, medical issues are interwoven with the character elements of the teleplay. The professional can review the script and help with dialogue that needs technical accuracy.
If the conversations in a script lack accuracy, a film or tv show may be subject to ridicule. Worse yet, it may lose viewers and decrease in the ratings. Hence, it is worthwhile for a show to hire a film consultant to look at the script. Because viewers are able to judge dialogue on its realism, they will be more likely to keep tuning in to shows that have quality production values. A large audience means better ratings and more advertiser money. Only when a show has a very small budget should the technical details in the screenplay be left to the writers. Although there is a wealth of information available online for many subjects, it is better to have a qualified expert review the script.
